Shockwatch DropSpot
The New Shockwatch DropSpot is a new design from Shockwatch for a high sensitivity Impact Indicator.
The new Dropspots are available in 11G, 16G and 24G versions. They are 3.5"x3.5" single axis, bidirectional indicators that have two separate windows that will individually show Red to display the direction of the triggering impact. By applying additional Dropspots along different axis, users will be able to determine the direction of any triggering impact. Each Dropspot has a unique serial number assigned to it so that the shipper will be able to mark that serial number on the Bill of Lading. There will be Proof of tampering if the receiver observes a differently numbered Dropspot upon receipt of the shipment.
For those familiar with the Shockwatch label and its limitations due to the fact that they are always armed (allowing many unintentionally triggered Shockwatch labels) the New Dropspot will certainly be a welcome addition to the Shockwatch product line!
Unlike the Shockwatch Label which relies on disruption of the surface tension of liquid (releasing the highly visible red dye) to display when an item has received an impact exceeding a specified G-level, the New Shockwatch Dropspot may only be triggered after activating the Dropspot by removing an adhesive tab and applying to your package. The Dropspot provides a high level of sensitivity and clearly indicates mishandling, even from a distance.
